German Embassy, Brasilia

The German Embassy in Brasilia is a building complex, consisting of the components of office and residence, the four large apartments and the building composed with staff housing. The grandiose room sequence in the reception rooms of the residence is one of the most interesting creations of Hans Scharoun.

Bernhard Hans Henry Scharoun was a famous German architect who lived from 1893 till 1972. He is know for designing the Berlin Philharmonic concert hall and the Schminke House in Löbau, Saxony. He was an important exponent of Organic architecture. The German embassy is the only foreign project, that was realized by Hans Scharoun.
