Congresso, Camara dos Deputados, Brasilia

Like many other public buildings in the city the architect Oscar Niemeyer designed the Congress of Brazil. It consists of a flat base building, with two central skyscrapers. The left part has got a convex dome shape, the right one the concave shape of a shallow bowl, where the Camera dos Deputados is situated. To the building complex belong other buildings in the area, which are partially connected by underground tunnels to each other. Brasília and the National Congress as the central building was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987.
